Have I Told You About These Crepes!?!?!?

So I think I may have mentioned this phenomenal restaurant that we’ve found recently. I was craving some crepes like what we used to have in South America. So I looked and looked and found….

The Coffee & Crepe Palace.

I swear I’ve told you about this place before but didn’t see it in my history. Finding that totally inappropriate, I am telling you now. Again, or not again. Whatever.

Forgive me that these are SOOC but it was a really sunny day and still captured all the delicious parts of this beauty.

We started off with some traditional Turkish Coffee. First time ever and best coffee ever.

Turkish coffee is ground the finest it can get. It is brewed with the sweetness level that you desire. THen you let it set for a couple/several/few minutes and then you drink in these cute little espresso cups. I loved it. Very spicey, like a mix between coffee and chai.

Next we got to choose a soup to go with our crepes. Hubs had the chicken soup. I think he had a cold or something. It was super good. They put scallions and cilantro in it.

I had the veggie soup which tasted a lot like turnips, which aren’t my favorite. But the pita bread they gave us was quite the fix for it. They also have a delicious salsa/hot sauce that you can mix in that gives it a major major kick. I didn’t know this when I first put it in, so I got quite the shocker.

Oh and did I mention the water?! I know it’s not anything to be super excited about, but let me say that they give you water with cucumbers in it, and if that isn’t refreshing, well. I just don’t know what is?

Then the Crepes.

This was mine. It’s a veggie crepe with basil, mint, eggplant, tomato, fresh cheese, cilantro, seeds and fruit. You can get meat with them but I just wanted to taste all the naturalness of it.

Hubs had The Chicago.

It has chicken, cheese, avacado, almonds, red onions etc. It can go without meat too but he wanted it. His was way super way good too.

Then we got a dessert crepe that had belgian chocolate and strawberries in it.

It also had some nice vanilla ice cream.

At this point in the story I have to tell you about the owner. Through out this whole thing we were snapping pictures, enjoying our food, and having a grand ol’ time. The waitress was laughing at us, and making sure we enjoyed everything.

Then when we had the dessert crepe the owner/head chef came over to our table and sat and the one across from us. He looked at us and said, in his dry Turkish accent:

“You should take a picture of yourselves enjoying this crepe. Dat is funny!”

He had been seen around the restaurant with a scowl on his face, acting as if he was dissatisfied with life. Never laughing and then all of a sudden he comes up to us and starts laughing. It made our experience and has been a reason we go back all the time.

So if you are ever in town please please please go visit The Coffee and Crepe Palace on N. Clark Street.
