Mexico Here We Come!

Yeah, you read that right! In 7 hours I’ll be getting up to put the finishing touches on my cosmetic bags before packing them up for a trip to the coast of Mexico with my hubby.

“What for?” You may ask. Well, I’ll tell you. Here are a few clues:

1. It’s not for vacation, though that would be nice.

2. It’s not for work, so that means we’re paying-ish…more on that later.

3. I’m running out of things so I’m just going to tell you….I’m sweepy.

It’s because we are going to hang out with teenagers, lots and lots of teenagers; about 100 of them really.

See there is this organization called GYFM (Global Youth and Family Ministries)((my hubby made this website so you better check it out or we probably won’t continue to be buddies…even though I have no idea who you are)) (((when I put lots of parentheses it’s because I’ve got a lot going on my head that has to do with the subject but want it to be a side note.))) (((( and because it’s a side note, when I read it in my head, it sounds like a whisper….is that weird?)))) :-)

ANYWAYS. GYFM is part of MTW ( Mission to The World) ((my hubby didn’t make this website but you should still check it out)) and my Mister’s family is part of MTW and we have worked with GYFM for the past several years.

I’ll have updated pictures and everything so I can introduce you to the group but just so you know about what we’re doing this week, I’ll give you a little quick 411.

So, Eric Larsen is the Director of GYFM. Eric and his amazing wife Rebecca did our marriage counseling and we consider them our kind of life coaches. We love them and they are our besties. They have four amazing daughters. You can read about the amazing oldest that they have from my old blog here. I plan on writing a whole blog about The Larsen’s because they hold a vital role in our lives. In fact I’m planning a whole “Introducing our People” side of this website so that you know the heck who everyone is, because face it…we’re popular. Well…no we aren’t but we like to think we are and it’ll look like we are because I’m going to make up a bunch of fake people and they will be my besties and you will not know the difference…wow…I’m sleepy.

Also there will be Ruthanne Burch who has put a whole lot of blood, sweat and tears into this trip. She also has a sweet blog and website you can check out here. She went full time with GYFM recently and is doing a great job organizing, mediating and investing in lots of students. She pretty much rocks my socks.

AND Eric and Rebecca are both Third Culture Kids from Australia. I think this is why we get along so much.

Drew and Linds will be on this trip which shall be marvelous. They also have their own blog which you can check out here. They came up here and had a little 5th anniversary celebration and let me take some pics of them. That is why their name is linked and that is why you will click on it and see the pictures.

So there are those people. Then there is Marta (who will be my partner in mentoring 6 high school girls), Riva (who I met once and knew we would be life long friends,we’ve just been waiting for this trip to happen), Amy (who lives an adventurous life in New York and meets famous people all the time) and lots and lots of others. I promise there are more boys on this trip, I just have the hottest one by my side so I forget. :-)

The reason we are going is because we love TCK’s and we love GYFM and we love growth. We’ll be at a retreat center with 100 students and their families. It’s a time for missionaries to get together and catch up on their adventures living in different cultures. Naph and I will be working with the people I’ve listed and a bunch more at investing in students who live a transitory life. It’s how we grew up so it’s something we can relate to quite a bit and have a deep passion for.

If you’re the praying type we should could use a few. These students go through a lot, sometimes more than most people in their whole life time. Plus the country is in a bit of turmoil (though who isn’t right now right?) and that puts people on edge. So we’re praying for a safe and exciting trip that impacts and changes people drastically and positively.

Welp…it’s about time I hit the hay because 7am is going to come awful soon and I’m a sleepy girl. If I can get internet in the treturous lands of Meheeco I shall update you on all the excitement but I promise to catalog my adventures so that, if nothing else, I’ll have some interesting stories to tell you when I get back.

Lovies!

ps. the picture I used made me laugh when I looked up the key words “visit Mexico”. I had to use it!
